چکیده

A practical objective in the control of flexible space structures is to minimize the effects of vibrational dynamics at certain specified points on a structure. State feedback can he used to address this question by creating closed-loop modes that are unobservable at these points and so do not contribute to the measured response. In the frequency domain, such modes correspond to pole/zero cancellations in the closed-loop system. This paper analyzes the problem of polehero cancellation in flexible structures, making full use of the second-order form of such systems. An explicit expression is derived for the unique state feedback gain with minimum norm that cancels all open-loop zeros. Furthermore, the properties of the residual poles that remain observable in the closed-loop system are studied, and their stability proven for the case of collocated sensors and actuators.

Periodic Oscillations in the Analysis of Algorithms and Their Cancellations

A large number of results in analysis of algorithms contain fluctuations. A typical result might read “The expected number of . . . for large n behaves like log2 n + constant + delta(log2 n), where delta(x) is a periodic function of period one and mean zero.” Examples include various trie parameters, approximate counting, probabilistic counting, radix exchange sort, leader election, skip lists,...

Near-Minimum Time Optimal Control of Flexible Spacecraft during Slewing Maneuver

The rapid growth of space utilization requires extensive construction, and maintenance of space structures and satellites in orbit. &#10This will, in turn, substantiate application of robotic systems in space. In this paper, a near-minimum-time optimal control law is developed for a rigid space platform with flexible links during an orientating maneuver with large angle of rotation. The time op...

Families of moment matching based, low order approximations for linear systems

The problem of finding a framework for linear moment matching based approximation of linear systems is discussed. It is shown that it is possible to define five (equivalent) notions of moments, i.e., one from a complex ‘‘s-domain’’ point of view, twousing Krylov projections and two froma time-domain perspective. Based on these notions, classes of parameterized reduced order models that achieve ...

Discrete Model Matching Adaptive Control for Potentially Inversely Non-Stable Continuous- Time Plants by Using Multirate Sampling

Adaptive control theory has been widely applied for stabilizing linear time invariant plants of unknown parameters (Goodwin & Sin, 1984). One of the more used methods for such a purpose is based on the model reference adaptive control (MRAC) problem (Aström & Wittenmark, 1997). Such a method requires some assumptions relative to the plant to be controlled in order to carry out the synthesis of ...
